Last night we went to a meetup in DC hosted by the Bad Astronomer himself and the infamous PZ Myers. They were both in town for some AU thing. Anyway, they both had some free time in the evening and they invited local readers to a meetup. It was fun. I think about 15 – 20 readers of their blogs showed up. We were the first ones there, getting there a around 8:30. It was a lot of fun. Food, drink and good conversation.

PZ is much more mild mannered in person than he is on his blog. No fangs and he didn’t actually breathe fire. There are rumors of laser beams, however… And Phil is definitely a geek. He’s a fellow Firefly fan, which I knew before, of course (he also mentioned secretly hoping I was Jewel Staite the first time I commented on his blog). We also got the lowdown on the Weblog awards vote.

Before we left I did manage to get a few pictures. PZ took a couple pictures of me & Phil, but sadly they are both out of focus. Phil took one of me & PZ, which turned out well and I got one of me & both Phil and PZ. Since Phil’s eyes are closed in the pic, I’ll have to get another one sometime.

A good time was had by all.
